Antillean Crested Hummingbird

 

The Antillean Crested Hummingbird (Orthorhyncus cristatus) is found in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Montserrat, north-east Puerto Rico, Saba, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sint Eustatius and both the British and U.S . Virgin Islands.

The Antillean Crested Hummingbird is the most common hummingbird of the islands and it’s picture is found on a large number of postage stamps in that area.

The Antillean Crested Hummingbird is mostly found in the subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests of the area but can also be found in the mountain forests.

The Antillean Crested Hummingbird male, is green on his back and head and is a blackish color underneath and on his tail. He has a green and blue crest.

The Antillean Crested Hummingbird female is green on her back and head but is a grayish or white color underneath with white tips on her tail feathers
